Thanksgiving Craft #2 – Painted Handprint Turkey

Friday, November 18, 2016

If you love handprint crafts, but our salt dough turkeys seem like a little too much work, these painted handprint turkeys are the perfect craft for you and your little ones during the holidays.

These turkey handprints make great gifts for the family or great homemade Thanksgiving decorations and are easy enough for even young kids to make.

What you'll need:

  • Brown, orange, red and yellow paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Paper
  • Markers

How to Make a Painted Handprint Turkey

1. Paint the palm of your child’s hand with the brown paint and the fingers with the other colors – red, orange, and yellow. Make sure you have enough paint on there so it doesn’t dry up before you do the next step.

2. Press their painted hand onto the paper to make the handprint. Try not to slide the hand around but press down firmly.

3. Once the handprint is dry, they can add the finishing touches to their masterpiece using markers. They can include an eye, feet, a beak and the turkey’s wattle (the red skin hanging from their neck).
